Executive Director: Cyndi Steiner
As the Executive Director of the New Jersey Bike & Walk Coalition, Cyndi Steiner brings a twenty-year career in corporate project management and information systems management, academic achievement in environmental science and technology, board service in bicycling organizations, and extensive experience as an environmentalist, League Cycling Instructor, racer and coach.
Cyndi is a current member and past president of the Board of Directors of both Bike New York and Montclair Cyclists. She administers the bicycle education program for Bike&Walk Montclair and is a regular volunteer for the Hackensack Riverkeeper. She was the top woman fundraiser for the 2012 Climate Ride and served as one of its ride leaders in 2011. She is the co-organizer of the 2012 Ken and Cecile Youner Memorial Spokes of Hope Ride for cancer awareness. In June 2012, she was awarded a Graduate Merit Scholarship Award from the Executive Women of New Jersey organization.
During her career as a project manager with Ernst & Young, Cyndi was responsible for the development and implementation of global information systems and managed teams from 7 to 75 programmers. In addition, she created the Ernst & Young/Secaucus Eco-Care Team, an employee-managed environmental awareness club of 1500 members that instituted eco-minded practices in order to reduce the facility’s carbon footprint. Her initiatives resulted in the EY Secaucus location being named as a finalist in the 2009 Meadowlands Challenge for sustainability-oriented improvements to operations.
Cyndi is a candidate for an MS degree from Rutgers University/New Brunswick in environmental science with a concentration in environmental chemistry. She holds an MS degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in information systems management and a BS degree from Cornell University.
